Fundraising Update: October 2025
Last June we set out to raise $6.5 million in order to enable our church ministry spaces to prepare for a new generation of work in the areas of youth, music, and community outreach programs. We knew the task would be daunting and ambitious, but we had a sense that it was the right time and that this was the right thing to do to get ready for what God is doing in our congregation and city.
After four months of development work, we ended 2024 having raised $5.2 million through right around 145 five-year commitments and direct gifts.
In January, the Session authorized the first phase of the project to commence. That work is presently underway and will now be concluded by Easter 2026.
As 2025 began, we knew we had a difficult journey ahead to close the gap between what we had already raised and what we still needed to finish this project debt-free. Going into the fall of this year, we had a $1.3 million gap in our fundraising and so we began praying for how best to proceed.
A few weeks ago, we were approached by one of our givers who prayerfully decided to make an additional major gift of $500,000 toward this project! After talking with them and thanking them, they wrote this to me:
It’s all my pleasure!! How fortunate I am to be able to do something like this. It really feels good!…Keep up the hard work. This will be great improvement for our church and the community.
With the reception of this gift, we are now just under $750,000 toward our goal and we couldn’t be more thrilled!
We know that there are many reading this email who have generously and graciously given to make this project happen. If you have pledged to this campaign—thank you, truly. Your gift has made a significant impact on our church’s ability to grow and expand our ministries for the future!
We also know that there are many who may be reading this who have not yet pledged or contributed. If that’s you, know that we still need your gifts! $750,000 is still a significant sum to raise, but we know that there may be someone reading this today who could give toward that goal and help us make this project a debt-free reality.
If you would like to discuss making a gift to this project, you can use the link above, or you can reach out to Campaign Chair Dick Skaff; we’d love to help get you connected to what God is doing at First Presbyterian Church of Flint.
Blessings in abundance!
