Houston, We’ve got a….Permit!
Great news, NextGen fans…we now have a construction permit from the City of Flint! After what feels like an impossibly long time to wait for our plan review to be completed, we were thrilled this week to stop by the permitting office and pick it up and get it posted.
For those who are unfamiliar with the building process, this is our key to be able to shift into full construction mode. (Prior to receiving the construction permit we had been issued only a ‘demolition’ permit and that work has now ended.)
So, where are we in our process? I’m glad you asked.
This rough project timeline shows a visual indicator (blue bar) of approximate time to complete each part of the project. We are nearing the end of our third part, “Underground Plumbing and Infill/Pour Trenches.” These trenches were made to plumb bathroom fixtures, showers, and other water lines. Here are some pictures of what that part of the job looks like. (You can click/tap on an image to make it larger)
With our permit in hand and our underground plumbing phase nearing an end—pending an inspection—we anticipate filling those trenches in with concrete and shifting the project over to our next phase: “Interior Framing and Rough Carpentry.” During that phase, you’ll begin to see how the new space will be laid out.
As of today, we are hopeful to be completed with construction shortly before Easter 2026!
Thanks!
